The makings of a “studio”

Cliplight/Sue Carroll

Even though many of my art supplies are still in a storage area, I have begun to set up “shop.”  God has wired this creative brain of mine to crave the “creative process.”  In it, I feel connected to Him, using the gifts He has established in me to mimic His creative nature.  I am thankful that my husband is so patient with me…supporting my need for a space to work and dream and play. He is the one who found my work table. I have been looking this past year for something I had pictured in my head and heart…thanks honey, for not only finding the perfect table, but for so generously paying a little extra to make my “dream” a reality.

The light I started with came from Pottery Barn and I am including a photo below.  Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s available anymore, but I would imagine that someone “handy” could create this shape using rings of some sort from the hardware store along with a light kit.  Don’t you think?

Getting settled…

BAJ:Proverbs4:Wisdom:Sue Carrollpm

We are beginning to get settled in our new home.  As much as this new season brings about the exciting change of owning a brand new place, full of hand picked aesthetics, the Lord has put it all in perspective as we walk along side my son and his wife and their journey with Ethan. They are literally thankful for each breath their son takes…each time he opens his eyes…each moment of recognition, and each new day.

We often pray for healing, comfort, patience, peace, direction…but I am learning over and over again that Solomon had it right…we should remember to pray for wisdom…with wisdom, we will find God’s will.

From Proverbs 4…

3″When I was a son with my father,
    tender, the only one in the sight of my mother,
he taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
    keep my commandments, and live.
Get wisdom; get insight;
    do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.
Do not forsake her, and she will keep you;
    love her, and she will guard you.
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
    and whatever you get, get insight.
Prize her highly, and she will exalt you;
    she will honor you if you embrace her.
She will place on your head a graceful garland;
    she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.”

10 Hear, my son, and accept my words,
    that the years of your life may be many.
11 I have taught you the way of wisdom;
    I have led you in the paths of uprightness.
12 When you walk, your step will not be hampered,
    and if you run, you will not stumble.
13 Keep hold of instruction; do not let go;
    guard her, for she is your life.”

With God’s wisdom, we have insight into the bigger picture.

There, we will gain confidence in knowing that God is good…

Bless you,

And If not…

& If Not.../ Sue Carroll

I have been teaching Large Group Children’s Church for 20 years, and one of my favorite stories to tell is that of Shadrach Meshach and Abeanburrito.

(Abednegosorry, my kids laugh when I talk “spanish”)

Anyway, their story is about miraculous faith bringing miraculous rescue.  In Daniel 3, you can read for yourself…but these three faithful men stepped into the fire for their beliefs…and God stepped in there with them…saving them from death…

and isn’t that what He does for us all?

As we continue to love and pray for our precious Grandson Ethan, I rest in the truth that our God goes before us & He is with us…especially in the fire.

Some days I have to cling to the truth with only my finger nails, because I just can’t fully grasp that we, as God’s children, have eternity promised…this earth we feel tied to is not our home.

As  Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego faced the punishment of burning in the fiery furnace for their faith, they proclaimed…

“O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” -Daniel 3

& if not….He is still good.

Praying for a rescue…

Blessings,
