The Virtue of Contentment / WK 2 / Day 5

Day 5 of Week 2

This is a long one:)

Let’s look at our Scripture for this week one more time.

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”       2 Cor 12:8-10

Truths I gleaned…

1. I can PLead with the Lord and He will LISTEN

2. The Lord’s GRACE * (SEE NOTE ABOUT GRACE) is ENOUGH and His Power is made PERFECT in MY WEAKNESS.

3. I can be content in ANY circumstance, even through insults, hardships, persecution and calamities.

*GRACE -Grace may be defined as the unmerited or undeserving favor of God to those who are under condemnation.

Definition of God’s Grace – What does the Bible say?
“This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:22-24).

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!” (Romans 5:17).

We have a Father who listens.   We have a Father who extends His GRACE to us and we don’t NEED ANYTHING ELSE. IT IS ENOUGH…and through His GRACE we can LIVE with CONTENTMENT. (In any circumstance)

We get stuck in the past.  We recall what we “most know.”  HOLDING ONTO  “things” that have been said to us, or done to us…that change the way we see ourselves, others, and the Lord. THESE “THINGS” ARE OFTEN THE SOURCE OF OUR DISCONTENT.

BUT…IF WE CAN LEARN TO TRUST THAT WHAT GOD SAYS IS TRUE…BELIEVING HE IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS AND WE ARE WHO HE SAYS WE ARE, WE CAN OVERCOME THE PAST and OVERCOME THE PATTERNS OF BEHAVIOR THAT WE HAVE LEARNED TO ACCEPT.

WE WHO ARE IN CHRIST, ARE OVERCOMERS.

Isaiah 59: 1-2

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save,
or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;
2 but your iniquities have made a separation
between you and your God,
and your sins have hidden his face from you
so that he does not hear.

THE LORD’S “HAND IS NOT SHORTENED”  (when we think He is not listening) it is our SIN that creates an inability to HEAR.

Matthew 5:23,24

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your 6 brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

If we have “unresolved conflict” with our brothers and sisters, we are also separated from our Father.  DIGGING DEEPER, and allowing the Lord to reveal these conflicts and their “roots” will allow us to move forward in the direction He has for us to go. It is a place of FREEDOM from the heavy chains that we carry.

Hebrews 12:14

14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (NIV)

This week, we have spent time processing and listening to what the Lord has to say about our earthly relationships…If we surrender all to our God…He will lift us above what we feel below and allow us to see from HIS PERSPECTIVE. He will shed light over dark places, bring clarity where there is chaos, forgiveness where there is unforgiveness, healing for all wounds, hope where there is despair, freedom from chains…He will replace sorrow with joy…even in the WORST of our circumstances.  IF…we “practice His presence”…SURRENDER AND LISTEN… PAUSE & PRAY, before we PROCEED:)

WHAT IS GOD CALLING YOU TO DO? WHAT ACTION IS HE REQUIRING YOU TO TAKE?  UNLESS WE MOVE FORWARD IN HIS TRUTH AND POWER WE WILL BE STUCK SPINNING OUR WHEELS.

Psalm 30 :1-5

I will exalt you, Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
2 Lord my God, I called to you for help,
and you healed me.
3 You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
you spared me from going down to the pit.
4 Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

LOT’S to process.  LOT’S to give to the only One who can save us from ourselves.  I am praying that He will draw you close to receive exactly what you need. Only the LORD can provide ALL you need, in EVERY circumstance, as you place ALL YOUR EXPECTATIONS on the one who WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN.

BELOW IS A PROCESS VIDEO FOR THE WEEK 2 PROJECT. ABOVE, IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THIS PROJECT. This project uses the “fancy fill” technique from the TVOC support files.
