Sometimes I get requests for specific Doodle 101’s.  It is a gift to have opportunities to bless any of you lovely readers with something (specific) that will help you in your journaling!

This little Doodle is for Javene, who is studying Jeremiah.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT / DAY 5 / Patience

She Reads Truth ; Fruit of the Spirit Study

Today we are studying the FRUIT of PATIENCE.

I am finding that there is a deeper root to the problem of impatience.

Something more than just being in a hurry to get through the Security line.

It has less to do about the impatience we feel towards our spot in the traffic jam or our arguing kids, and more to do with the deeper root of fear.

Fear of….

not being good enough...we can work tirelessly to achieve…to make a name for ourselves…filling our days with  “doing” as we physically run our bodies and our spirits into the ground.,.which of course, leads to diminished tolerance and patience for others.

not getting what we deserve… unmet expectations placed in all the wrong places (or people) can lead us to feelings of bitterness and resentment, which then leads to an attitude that is lacking in grace and patience.

just to name a few.

Patience is linked to waiting and waiting is not a part of our culture. We live in a “I want it now” world where that  becomes very possible… just a click away with Amazon Prime:)

James tells us in Chapter 5 verse 7, “Be patient, therefore, brothers, (and sisters!) until the coming of the Lord.  See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains…

Verse 8 “…Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

We grow impatient when we cannot see the hope of our future.

We develop fear, when we do not BELIEVE the hope of our future in Christ.

Instead of merely praying for patience, I am going to pray that the Lord will give me His perspective to “see” the hope of my future! To see beyond my immediate circumstance…it’s so very small compared to my eternal hope!

*AS A SIDE NOTE: Let’s also remember that God has a PROMISE for those who remain steadfast…They will be blessed! (James 5:11) Come on now, our God is so generous, He BLESSES us when we “do the right thing!”

That nasty root of fear can be released as we rest in the hope we have in Jesus. The eternity beyond the here and now that our human flesh feels “stuck” in.

“But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience.” -Romans 8:25 (HCSB)

Oh, Father, let my heart be glad and my flesh rest in HOPE.

As we “rest in HOPE” patience will follow ❤

“We do not wait in vain. We wait for our God-the God who has promised and secured our full redemption through Jesus Christ.” -Andrea Lucado

I LOVE what Andrea suggests…

Let’s (wait & ) longsuffer TOGETHER!  We need to stick by each other like glue Sisters! There are times in our lives when we have a need for our tribe…our band of Sisters…to come alongside us and pull us up on our feet! Can I get an AMEN?

May we all be given God’s eyes to see beyond our circumstance…to develop patience for the great hope that is our future, and to remember that it is available to us right now.

Blessings,

Art journaling can be a great process of “being still.” I like to put on worship music and “steep” in the scripture…listening for the Holy Spirit as He quiets the “noise” in my head…teaching me things I do not know…as I draw and color.  I hope that my little doodles are an aid in that process for you…giving you a “starting point”…as you create your own very personal rememberance of the place where God met with you.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT / DAY 3

I apologize to all you early morning study gals…(I’m one of “those” too!)

God’s promise to us is that in ALL things we will find JOY if we are in His presence. Practicing His presence is our MOST CRITICAL NEED.  This is always our FIRST STEP. -and to think…

our joy only begins here…it is for all eternity:)

What are you learning? I’d love to hear!

My heart skips a beat, anytime C. S. Lewis is mentioned…Kaitlin used this quote in DAY 2

Loving others as ourselves “is an image, a foretaste of what we must become to all if Love Himself rules in us without a rival.” -C.S. Lewis

Moving on to 1 RESPONSE (3, 2, 1)

A great teacher and righteous man of God, Larry Reese, posted this yesterday:

“Friends, I want to share something with us from the Scriptures that has been on my heart today. In a way, it is a warning to be careful to watch out for the things that pull us away from Father and cause us to think inconsistently with what Jesus tells us. We should know with all of our hearts that if we walk with Jesus the way that we should and listen to His words and read the Scriptures, eating them, allowing them to fill us up with the knowledge of God, then Satan will have a lot of trouble pulling us away from Jesus. It is not just enough to try and have a relationship with the Bible, but it is spiritually profound to have intimacy with the Author–knowing, receiving, and welcoming Him so that He may give us continual power to experience being His children. Know for certain, dear friends, that there is a strong presence of deception that is trying to pull us away from following after Jesus with our whole hearts, telling us it is alright to do the things that Father instructs us in His word, not to do. Be aware:”

“…..Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.” 1 Timothy 4:1 (NLT)

“….Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (NLT)

“….And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NLT)

Let us hold firmly the word of God in our hearts, so that we may not sin against Him.

THANK YOU BROTHER LARRY! These amazing truths are just what I needed to hear. To produce fruit, we must EAT “FRUIT” ‘allowing it to fill us up’.  Abiding in Him allows us the opportunity to “experience being His children!”  We must sit on His lap daily, if we are to “KNOW” Him…to LOVE HIm…

& We cannot love apart from Christ.

I’d love to hear what God is revealing to you!

DAY 2

(using SHE READS TRUTH – FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT STUDY found at (shereadstruth.com)

*remember you can download the FREE PRINTABLE STUDY SHEETS AND BOOKMARK/STUDYCARD found on DAY 1 of my posts)

Our Fruit today is LOVE.

What do you love?

Is it Blueberry pancakes? (Like Kaitlin ?).  Maybe it’s Tombow markers, the ocean or Pit Bulls.

Getting more serious… who do you love? Your family, your friends…your kids.

Jesus.

I’ve said it before, I guess i can’t help but say it again today…one of my favorite definitions of love comes from Greg Boyd. (Pastor, Author, Speaker…former atheist) He says this…

“Love is ascribing worth to another at cost to oneself.”

This is what our God did for us in Jesus.

Love isn’t just a “feeling.” It is a sacrificial ACTION…over and over, without end.

Wow, THIS IS A REALLY BIG FRUIT!

I think it’s the ONE fruit that makes it extra clear, that we cannot produce this FRESH FRUIT without the Lord.

The purest freshest fruit of LOVE can only develop when the original “seed” is planted in our hearts to grow, and then watered daily by the Planter Himself.  We have to go to the living water. If we don’t, our sinful nature, our fleshy selfish heart, will withold love and keep it for ourselves.

and if we don’t give it away, all we be for nothing.

Love is the answer to every question. It is what we yearn for the most, because we were born out of LOVE…created to LOVE.

There is so much to prayerfully study, process, and learn from the HUGE scripture references today.

I am breaking down this Day 2 into 2 parts.

Below is my first step…3 truths…though I just couldn’t condense all of these passages to  3.  I typically use this breakdown (3 truths) for only one verse. (FEEL FREE TO PICK JUST ONE TO USE THE 3,2,1 METHOD OF STUDY) Refer to printable study card.

Studying the Fruits of the Spirit

Journalingpages/FRUITOFTHESPIRIT/SueCarrollHappy New Year!

So much is happening in my “neck of the woods.”   The Women at my church are preparing to host our ANNUAL WOMEN’S CONFERENCE featuring Lisa Harper!

If you haven’t had the opportunity to sit under her teaching, I highly recommend you check her out! You can purchase her studies & watch clips of her teaching at life way.com or catch her on YouTube.

I will be teaching a bit of journaling during our conference.  (Excited 🤗)

The subject of my “conference talk” is Abiding.

One of my daily goals is to practice ABIDING.  As we abide in Christ, we move in the direction the Lord has for us to go.  Abiding in Christ produces good fruit.  They are a by product of our obedience.

I cannot be reminded enough of my need to DWELL in Him daily.

So… at the start of this new year, my focus is just that!

I will be posting some of my pages throughout this 12 day study on “THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT.”

Below you can click on the pics to download your own PDF files, for these free journaling pages and bookmark.

The BOOKMARK is a study card for the 3, 2, 1 Method of Study.

The “Fruits of the Spirit” study itself, can be found at SheReadsTruth.com.

You can also download their app for your phone!

(This is a 12 DAY STUDY.)

Because it is short, I may take a few days for each of the study’s ONE DAY of material. We’ll see how it goes together!

If you join me on this journey, I’d love to hear from you as you study!

I’m also available for questions, should you have any about the process!
