Hairy drains:)

Hoping this post finds you well and that you are drawing close to the Lord…He will sustain you.

For many, August/September is a time of change, a time for schools to begin, vacations to end…the start of a new yummy pumpkin latte season and a new year approaching.

My husband and I have just one more chick ready to fly out of our nest, as he begins his junior year of college. As I dug into yesterday’s devotional by Oswald Chambers I was later reminded of the Dead Sea I can become as I worked to unclog the bathtub drain.

My last chick, has beautiful long hair. He is often mistaken for Jesus:) I mean no disrespect…he really does bring to mind our humanized “picture” of our Savior…with his long wavy brown hair, sweet face, sandled feet, & calm demeanor.

As I set out to clean, I found his shower/tub full of that beautiful long hair. A tub full of stagnant water…a clogged drain, with no chance of clean water flowing through the pipes. Yuk.

It became a visual connection for me….to the devotion I had just studied in the morning.

Below  is a link to that devotion.

Fountains of Blessings

The water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. —John 4:14

“If you find that His life is not springing up as it should, you are to blame— something is obstructing the flow.”

-Oswald Chambers

“Living water” is not meant to stay within us, it is meant to move through us…and then flow OUT of us…to others.

Like a fountain, who’s water bursts out…a constant flow that continues to pour out, flow back in, and then out again.

If our flow is obstructed, we have lost our connection to the water source…our drains get clogged and our life resembles the Dead Sea.

Our Father is so very good to us.  He doesn’t ask us to clean our own drains…He simply asks us to connect to His water source and then HE CLEANS OUR PIPES!  As we tap into the “living water” that He promises, our lives miraculously become unclogged fountains that overflow with clean water. He gives us new life, that pours over others.

It is our Savior, who reached down and got dirty…with the ultimate sacrifice…to wash us clean, and “unclog” our pipes.

As I reached in and pulled out all that hair in the drain, it became more than a chore. It became a reminder of our King, and how He set aside His deity, stepping down off His throne, to come alongside us and our dirty pipes…to save us from the dead sea…to unclog our drains, wash us clean, and GIVE us new life with the promise of water overflowing…allowing us to be blessed and to be a blessing to others.

Are you experiencing a clog? You don’t have to clean it out yourself. Go to the water source, and your fountain will flow again!

It is  a promise from our promise Keeper:)
