Living an ART filled life…“Creativity is a God-given ability to take something ordinary and make it into something special. It is an openness to doing old things new ways…The creative spirit is part of our heritage as children of the One who created all things. And nurturing our creativity is part of our responsibility as stewards of God’s good gifts.” – Emilie Barnes, The Spirit of Loveline
I have recently purchased a new little toy that many of you may have seen out there in the Big Wide Creative Net. Maybe you have one yourself! If so, this is the post for you!
The Phomemo is a tiny little portable thermal printer, that creates stickers and labels on the spot from your iPhone, Android, Ipad or Computer.
The model I have is the MO2. There is a MO2S available for about $20 more, but I am still unclear as to the difference between the two? (I am awaiting a reply to this question from the manufacturer) One roll of paper comes with the printer, but you must purchase paper/sticker paper separately. There is DEFINITELY a BIG difference between the papers available including plain white paper, white sticker paper and transparent sticker paper. NOTE: each paper has a specific duration for ink clarity. Some paper states the prints only last 2 years. Look carefully before you buy; my advise is to purchase the “longer life” paper that promises 20+ years.
If you are printing temporary mailing labels, notes, etc., the 2 yr paper is fine:)
You will also need to download the free Phomemo App to your device. In this App, there are lots of free printable graphics, & labels, along with a banner function and “Notes” section. If you want to add text to an image, you will need to save the image and download it to the “NOTES” section and there you can add text. Here you can also adjust the size of your image.
I think the Transparent Sticker Paper is my favorite for use with my Bullet Journal or Bible Journaling. If you fussy cut the design, you can add simple color to the page with markers or watercolor, and then place the clear sticker image on top. Below are some examples that I created this way.
I have not experimented with all the paper available. There are lots more options, including blue ink print and gold, just to name a few.
I’d like to share these images with to try! If you don’t have a Phomemo, you can print these images on 8.5 x 11 transparent label/sticker paper:) The download file is linked below.

Beth Guckenberger has compiled forty life-changing messages to encourage a life of reckless faith. This devotional journey walks through the adventure and joy that follows a yes to Jesus. Through a unique approach of reflecting on experiences to create internal change and external action steps, each day tells personal stories of when she accepted a challenge to grow. Some stories take place on the mission field and some around her table, but all hold insight to inspire a life with Jesus, who longs to work in and through us all. This journey will help you: – Experience reckless faith adventures – Relate biblical truths to your daily life – Understand God’s heart for others
Beth and her husband, Todd, live with their family in Cincinnati, Ohio where they serve as Co-Executive Directors of Back2Back Ministries. After graduating from Indiana University, the Guckenbergers moved to Monterrey, Mexico where they lived for 15 years. Between biological, foster, and adopted children, they have raised ten children.
Beth is the author of eight books including adult and children’s titles. She travels and speaks regularly at conferences, youth gatherings and church services. Her style is based in story-telling and she draws from her vast field experience as a missionary, Bible teacher and parent for illustrations of biblical concepts.
Beth is an incredible story teller, and for this visual learner, she illuminates truth like no other. The Lord has blessed her with the ability to communicate spiritual truth with a humility and compassion that completely draws you to HIM. Through the power of the Holy Spirit you will be moved. She speaks from experience out in the trenches, doing God’s work…stumbling along the way, as she becomes more like Christ with each step. She invites you into her journey and you walk away friends:)
Today, I want to share my process for journaling this 40 day devotional with you. It can be used to journal any devotional or scripture study, but works perfectly with the way Beth sets up each daily entry in her book.
Above is my Journal. Baron Fig Confidant. (Slightly smaller than A5) There are definitely aspects about it that I don’t like. I fixed one issue by painting the front and back with acrylic paint. (It has a linen like cover that picks up dirt and grease, yuk!) The layout of the book and the size are certainly to my liking, but the pages are very thin, and don’t hold up well with any heavier applications of pen/marker or paint. I primarily use watercolor and microns, so I can manage, but below is my FAVORITE dot bullet journal that will take almost ANY product without bleed through! (And I love the wipeable cover!) Size/A5
Each of the 40 days in “Reckless Faith” contain: an Experience, a reflection Scripture, Probing Reflective Questions, and an Action step. Below is how I set up my spread to utilize these elements.
LEFT SIDE PAGE
I use the top left box (Date/March) to write the FACTS/TRUTHS I pull from the scripture highlighted(top right), using the 3,2,1 Method of Study.
In the “Action space” (left page top right space next to the Date/Truth box) I write my “Response” The ACTION God is calling me to take. I try to write this in the form of a plan that I can implement daily. Beth gives you a specific task to accomplish which is a great way to put what you’ve learned into DOING:)
RIGHT SIDE PAGE
In the top Right box I RE-WRITE the scripture. I find that the simple exercise of prayerfully re-writing scripture helps me meditate over it and remember it! Ask the Holy Spirit for direction and insight, He will teach you “the deep things of God that you do not know!” (1 Corinthians 2)
The vertical box on the lower left side of the right page is where I place a specific WORD that jumps out at me in the story Beth shares or a lesson point she makes. Sometimes, I write a phrase…it’s usually the main point for the day:)
On the lower Right Side (of the right page) I describe the Word box in more detail. Sometimes I add a visual using a drawing or photo.
I pre-cut thin, brown paper bags to use as a 3 x 4 background or I tear pieces of recycled bags and place “strategically” on any of the sections. I also pre-cut watercolor squares/rectangles to use for paintings/drawings. This way, you can create something outside your journal, and will get better results on watercolor paper. MANY TIMES, I cover up boo boos by adding paper! If I cannot correct an oops, I just grab paper, glue it in, and cover it up!
I spend a big chunk of time each morning studying and creating my pages.(1-2 hours) I save time by drawing out the page layout structure, a week at a time, on the weekend. I typically do one, 2 page spread, 5 days a week and use the weekend to layout my pages so they are ready to fill in during the week.
I’ve included a FREE printable that you can use to make your own stickers! You can find sticker paper on amazon HERE.
Hopefully I’ve given you some resources that will be useful to you as you spend precious time with the Lord.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’
I’m so blessed by all you readers and fellow Sisters seeking the Lord through creative journaling!
I’m so “drawn” to these verses from Colossians (3:15-17) A sweet friend shared this passage with our Bible Study Leadership team recently as an encouragement for us to overcome our fear of not measuring up… (thank you Susan!)
We are ONE BODY…all important in the unique role we play. When Christ “rules our heart” there is no room for fear and doubt…all we have is love for one another!
Below you will find the free printable page for these verses.
Print these out on card stock and cut them into 7 x 1.5 inch strips that will fit right into the margin of our Bible!
Print one 8.5 x 11 sheet and cut it into 2…one for YOU and one for a friend!
I have left the PDF file black and white so you can color them in:)
If you’d rather, you can trace them through your bible page:)
So sorry for the delay ! I know that some of you have been using my calendars to journal.
(See this post https://1arthouse.wordpress.com/2016/09/08/printable-calendar-ideas-by-eden/) LOVE your journaling Eden!
I’m a bit technically challenged (to put it mildly!) and I was “locked out” of my IPad😔
I had to take it on over to the AMAZING people at “Simply Mac.” (They have been such a great resource with a very helpful and knowledgeable staff!) Unfortunately, they were unable to “unlock the door” and had to WIPE my IPad clean. I lost ALL OF MY ART FILES! 🙄 😢😪😓😥🤧
Thanks to Susan Pedroza for reminding me to get the January calendar out!!! I needed to start from scratch, so hopefully it’s close enough to the original, if you are keeping them together in a binder!
As I have said before (& have done so myself repeatedly) we give our hearts away every day. We give them to those who don’t properly care for them, we give them away to fleeting fancies, we give them away to anyone and anything that will have them…hoping, that we will receive something back…LOVE.
Disappointment comes fast. Our great expectations not met. We are not aware or do not believe that our GOD is the only ONE who can be trusted to guard them against what we fear the most…our love returned void.
As we “rest” in the Lord, “His peace will guard our hearts.” (Ephesians 4:7) His peace, will open up the door to contentment in Him. As we experience His goodness and His faithfulness through our obedience, our faith in our Father will grow. His peace will become our longing…what we come to know…and in it, we find contentment.
We must learn to give our hearts to the one who knows them…to the one who created them…to the one who protects them…and…loves them perfectly. Take the first step. He will meet you right there.
We love because He FIRST loved us.
BUT…our hearts need guarding…for unguarded, they are broken and wounded…empty.
As we commit ourselves to abiding in Christ, we will receive all we could ever hope for or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)
That’s a GREAT return on our investments.
The ONLY sure thing to a NO FAIL INVESTMENT.
Let the Lord’s peace guard your heart…heal your heart, bind your heart to His:)
