Doodle 101 / Coffee 2nd, Jesus First:)

What if we CRAVED time with our God as much as we crave our coffee?

(or coke, or tea, or ___)

Let’s pray that the Lord causes a stirring in our hearts that draws us to Him FIRST…before we even set our feet on the floor.  Practice that moment of opening your eyes as you lay in bed, and thank Him for the gift of each day. And while we’re at it…let’s give the day back to Him… asking what good purpose He has for us to do.  Jesus taught us how to do it.

In our obedience, we will find contentment:)

It is impossible to be content when our hearts are set on gaining more…unless it’s MORE of God:)

fo·cus
ˈfōkəs/
noun

  1. 1.
the center of interest or activity.

  2. 2.
the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition.
Without the help of our CONTROL TOWER  our lens gets dirty and bumped…often it happens without our even noticing… it is a “slow fade” gradually leaving us in a place of darkness. Our distorted view causes us to misinterpret, or misunderstand information as it comes in, and can change the way we see ourselves, others and even God.

It takes a deliberate commitment to allow God to lead.

I have a friend who recently shared that she sets her phone’s calendar alarm to ring during the day as a reminder to take 5 minutes to ask the Lord to re-focus her attention on Him and where He is leading her.  I love this practical example of PRACTICED OBEDIENCE!

Hence, my doodle today.  Set your alarms girls, and ask the Lord to re-focus your eyes, your minds, and your heart!  Then you will have CLEAR vision and God’s perspective:)

His perspective is SOOOO much better that mine!

Doodle 101: Control Tower/Sue Carroll

“Most of us spend more time emphasizing our bodies and souls than our spirits.  We want to do what feels good, appeases our emotions, seems rational to our mind, and suits our will…with little thought to what the “control tower” is saying in us.  The Holy Spirit sees the WHOLE picture and may want to reveal something beyond what our physical senses can comprehend.

How do we begin focusing on the control tower within?  We begin our day surrendering ourselves to Him and asking Him to heighten our spiritual senses to see and hear Him throughout the day.  Then, as we do the mundane tasks that consume our lives, we purposefully turn our awareness inward and say, God, what do you think?”  – Priscilla Shirer (Discerning the Voice of God)

Listening…then moving in the direction God is leading us to go:)

Doodle 101 / Grace is ENOUGH

Doodle101:Graceisenough:SueCarroll

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” -2 Cor 12:9

As I continue to study and pray through The Virtue of Contentment : A Bible Journaling Study, I hear my helper (the Holy Spirit) whisper over and over…

Do you live like you believe His Power and His GRACE are enough?  Most days, no…

I live like my power is enough:(

How do I move from this place of knowledge (that He is enough) to a place of  OBEDIENCE?

LIVING LIKE I BELIEVE.

THIS IS THE “SECRET” of CONTENTMENT THAT PAUL SPEAKS OF IN PHIL 4…

TO LIVE IN OBEDIENCE IS TO LIVE SURRENDERED.

TO GIVE THE LORD ACCESS TO EVERY MOMENT OF MY DAY…EVERY DECISION, EVERY THOUGHT, EVERY MOTIVATION.

When God’s will becomes my will…He will ALWAYS be enough.

I must practice obedience in the rituals of my day…like brushing my teeth, or drinking my coffee.

God’s will, is better than coffee…the results are more than something that “gets me through the morning.”  The Lord MEETS us in our obedience, and we are satisfied.

If we are operating in His will, with His power, according to His Grace…we WILL have every need met, and then some:)

Take the challenge with me…

PRACTICE OBEDIENCE…

Before you put your feet on the floor, acknowledge that God (IN LOVE) bought you with a price…Give Him what you owe Him…your life…invite Him to join you in the day.

practice makes perfect:)
